Alan A. Armer

For over twenty years Mr. Armer wrote, produced or directed over 350 programs for commercial television, including the multiple award-winning THE FUGITIVE and THE UNTOUCHABLES.

    During those years Armer received the following professional honors and recognition:
  • Emmy Award (plus multiple Emmy nominations)
  • Screen Producers Guild Award
  • Mystery Writers of America Award
  • Western Writers of America (two awards)
  • Sound Editors’ Golden Reel Award
  • TV Guide Award
  • The Fugitive inducted into PGA Hall of Fame
  • Elected president (2 terms) - Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Hollywood Chapter

For over 20 years Armer taught at California State University where he headed his department’s Screenwriting Area. He received the university’s coveted Distinguished Teaching Award. He was also given an Outstanding Achievement Award in a poll of students naming him ‘Professor from whom I have learned the most.’

Armer has published numerous articles on the screenwriting craft and has written two textbooks for Wadsworth Publishing Company: Writing the Screenplay and Directing Television and Film (also translated into German).

He is listed in Who’s Who in Entertainment.
